The Amsterdam concert comes from a broadcast to Dutch radio KRO, and is almost complete. "You've Got Everything Now" is missing and the track listing is resequenced. The last few tracks are a bit slow. But this is still the best bootleg for this concert.
The Manchester concert is complete. It is the earliest Smiths concert available on bootleg (also on cd on "Morrissey 1959-1986"). It was their third concert ever.
MISERABLE LIES "These tracks come from a broadcast on Dutch radio, which might explain the fact that tracks are missing, and the order is not the same as the original concert. The LP is now very difficult to find, so fans should try to find the "Butterfly Collector" bootleg cd which is more common and has a near complete concert.

7/12/83 ASSEMBLY ROOMS, DERBY 7/12/83 (fair soundboard) (Sorrow's son is excellent to very good) VINYL PARTY, DE MEERVAART, AMSTERDAM 21/4/84 (good) This bootleg was reissued with a different cover under the title "Live In Derby Dec. 7th 1983" (see further in this list). Both this and the reissue are the best versions available of the Derby concert. It is complete and comes from a broadcast on the Old Whistle Test. The Amsterdam concert is not complete. Most of the tracks are on "The Butterfly Collector". "Miserable Lie" is mostly instrumental because Morrissey had just been hit on the head by something thrown on stage and went backstage for part of the song. Sorrow's Son: "This is the complete broadcast from The Old Whistle Test (UK television, BBC1). The bootleg is now very difficult to find. Fans will have better chances looking for either "Handsome Devils" or "Live In Derby Dec. 7th 1983"
19/12/83 Many tracks not listed, or listed but absent, or again mis-titled ("Crack On The Head", "Mess Of My Life"). This has the exact same track listing as "Live At The Electric Ballroom", so it might be a reissue. In total, three tracks are missing to make it complete, two of which are on the "Devil's Charm" bootleg.

16/02/84 Hand In Glove
24/02/1984 Hand In Glove Not much info, of the 3 websites sourced only 1 had it. Scarce?
12/3/84 This is one of the nicest cd bootlegs. The quality is excellent and the concert is complete. It probably is a reissue of the infamous "Misery Loves Company" vinyl bootleg, though there is also a reissue on cd under that title. Many different named versions with lesser quality available.
HULL UNIVERSITY
21/4/84 HACIENDA, MANCHESTER 4/2/83 (GOOD) The Amsterdam concert comes from a broadcast to Dutch radio KRO, and is almost complete.
4/5/84 This is a reissue on cd of the same concert that made the bootleg LP "The Smiths". It has the complete concert, from a broadcast on German television show Rockpalast while the original LP lacked three tracks.
09/05/84 They really played "Barbarism..." twice. The song was quite new back then, and wouldn't see any commercial release before the beginning of 1985, many months later. "Hand In Glove" was also played once more as an encore, but it is absent here.
01/12/84 1985
18/3/85 Dated Europe '85. This has to be the best bootleg for the Oxford Apollo concert. The track listing is complete and in the proper order. The quality is the best you can get, directly from the soundboard. Also on Flowers-(Apollo Theatre, Oxford 18/3/85, National Ballroom, Kilburn 23/10/86, John Peel Sessions 17/12/86 )
24/03/1985
31/3/85
18/5/85 This is a complete concert from a broadcast on Spanish radio. Parts of this were already available on the vinyl bootlegs "Spanish Sun Live In Madrid" and "Never Had No One Ever". The LP version has white labels and comes slipped inside a generic Swinging Pigs sleeve.
18/06/85 What She Said" and "Barbarism Begins At Home" are missing to make this concert complete.

26/8/86 This is one of the best bootlegs from the US "The Queen Is Dead" tour, it even includes Morrissey and Marr cursing at the security guards! Only "Bigmouth Strikes Again" is missing to make the concert complete.
23/10/86 Quality: Very Good NATIONAL BALLROOM, KILBURN The Queen Is Dead This is an incomplete concert, it has most tracks available on the official live album "Rank" and a few of the ones missing. The best purchase for this concert remains "The Bad Boy From A Good Family", but it is only available on vinyl.
24/10/86 01 - The Queen Is Dead Genius steals is a bit sped up This is a reissue on cd of the "Brixton Academy 20/10/86" vinyl bootleg. It has the complete concert minus "Cemetry Gates". This gig was recorded the day after the one available on the official live album "Rank", so the song selection is very similar. However, the band didn't sound at their best that night. "Meat Is Murder" starts with a slowed down intro to "The Headmaster Ritual".

This is the best way to get the Smiths' final concert in the UK on cd. It even includes the intro music and has the only live performance of "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others", a unique medley of "London" and "Miserable Lie", a superb version of "This Night Has Opened My Eyes" and a very punchy "Panic".
Also as "NEVER HAD NO ONE EVER"- The Brixton Academy concert is better here than on "Royal Command Performance". It has all the tracks and the sound is better. The fan who is especially after the Brixton concert might want to find the cd version of this album. It has all of the latter concert, but only one track from Madrid.

This is one of a series of great bootlegs put out by Chelsea. Its highlights are the early mix of "Heaven Know I'm Miserable Now" from a television broadcast two months before the song was released, and the extremely rare alternate version of "How Soon Is Now?" that was prior to this only available on the Italian "William It Was Really Nothing" 12". The fact that half of this bootleg is of (mostly instrumental) soundchecks might be of special interest to certain fans while it might annoy others.
See "Reel Around The Fountain", "Unloveable" and "Wonderful Woman" for other bootlegs in this series.

I Don't Owe You Anything (by Sandie Shaw)
Jeane (by Sandie Shaw)
This is one of a series put out by Chelsea. Like others in the series, it has a rarely bootlegged concert paired with rare versions of tracks. This one has an otherwise unavailable very early concert in Birmingham. One song ("Miserable Lie") is missing for it to be complete. The last two tracks, radio sessions by Sandie Shaw, are very interesting to fans who don't want to buy her album "Cool About You" of radio appearances (note: the Sandie Shaw cd includes the interview from the original broadcast but not this bootleg). The rest of the tracks are more common.

The tracks here comprise all four radio appearances (resequenced) by the Smiths for the BBC's Radio One in 1983. The interviews of Morrissey on John Peel's and David Jensen's programs are also included.
The live version of "Hand In Glove" was from a very recent show. It replaced the planned "Reel Around The Fountain" which was causing too much controversy to be broadcast. It was finally broadcast on the following David Jensen sessions.

Euromixx is a series of various artists megamixes. The mixes were done from the original versions, hence the very good sound quality. The Goldsmith mix appeared on volume 2 of the Euromixx cd series. This might have come with subscription to some Canadian magazine.
